    Question Interstellar vs. Colonies

For me at least, colonies play big into the "reasons to go out there" meta-game. Sure, curiosity may be a big initial driver (and that also implies stuff being out there to pay back on the curiosity drive), but once you're there, there should be reasons to stay and go back. Hence, colonies. I do...

    Question First game loop?

I was wondering when the first "game" systems are going to be implemented. I'll admit, I haven't tested a build in quite a long time. I see cool stuff added like the new engine plumes, regolith lighting models and such... but without anything to *do* in the game, I don't really feel like...

What's the grand plan for KSA?

I really hope so, it's one of the things I liked so much about KSP. It's one of the very, very few completely non-violent games in my library. Just pure curiosity, science, discovery and a generous dash of silly humour. Actually that's the one thing that didn't really vibe with me regarding the...

Question Let the Community Shape the Future of Kitten Space Agency

You know, I can tell you're still using ChatGPT to translate, but at least it's not so glaring anymore 😅, and I think the text is your own now. Try writing more English yourself, it gets easier the more you do it. 👍 It's not my native language either. And that's a good point you raise, too. A...

Question Let the Community Shape the Future of Kitten Space Agency

Seconded. While I wish the forum were more active, I don't need to talk to ChatGPT here. If they don't bother writing it, why should I bother reading it or even humour it with a response. That said, the notion of community vote driven development seems silly, and to be honest, a bit...

Linux: AMD GPU: Terrain not Rendering

Disabling anti-aliasing did the trick, yess! Thank you 🐧

Linux: AMD GPU: Terrain not Rendering

The linux builds are working better and better. Finally terrain, and a working moon (build 2026.2.38.3713, on my 7800XT)! Super nice. Now the most glaring issue (quite literally too, I might say) are the "dancing disco lights" over Earth when Atmosphere is enabled in the render settings. I...

    One True Linux Thread™

Ahwoo! v2026.2.32.3646 is the first build that is actually launching for me (Radeon 7800 XT 16 GB) - at least in Earth Only, Earth and Moon and Solar System are crashing after "Loading Complete". Still looks quite funky, but no worse than when running under Proton.

    One True Linux Thread™

It's a bit sad though, only the very first public build has been running well for me (minus the terrain). Ever since, Earth has been a mess of dancing lights that no amount of graphics settings tweaks could fix. I'm having my fingers crossed for the native Linux build, hope the startup crash...

    One True Linux Thread™

Very cool! Crashes on run for me, unfortunately. (Fedora 43, Ryzen 5, Radeon RX 7800 XT) 10:15:47 ERROR GLFW Error: 65548 Wayland: The platform does not provide the window position 10:15:47 WARN settings file not found, creating default settings at /home/karsten/Documents/My Games/Kitten...

    One True Linux Thread™

If that's a sustainable pipeline, that's amazing, thank you! I use Linux, but very non-ideologically - Proton as a supported target platform would be fine as well, and I think many would feel the same. Whatever works best and consumes less development resources - these should go into the game...

    One True Linux Thread™

Build 2025.12.13.2994 is totally broken for me. Earth was a mess of dancing colorful lights, although I could get rid of that by turning off oceans. Zooming out a little resulted in a lock-up - I could move the mouse pointer, but everything else was frozen. I could only hard reboot. :(...

Linux: AMD GPU: Terrain not Rendering

7800 XT user here, I also don't see terrain. I've tried a lot of different launchers (Bottles, Heroic, Steam) and Wine/Proton versions (soda 9, Proton 8/9/10/experimental, GE-Proton) - no terrain anywhere, and differing amounts of other graphical glitches. I'm starting to wonder if that...

    One True Linux Thread™

Can anyone confirm they're actually seeing terrain - and if so, with which wine/proton? It tooke me a while to notice it's missing 😅, earth looks so gorgeous from orbit with just clouds and ocean. Like a giant water world. Terrain collision works, it's just invisible.

    One True Linux Thread™

I'm on Fedora Workstation 43, using Gnome / Wayland. Ryzen 5 5600X, 64GB RAM, with a Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB. First I tried installing through Steam / Proton 9.4, but couldn't get the game to launch. Second attempt was with Bottles. I set up a new "Gaming" preset bottle (soda-9.0-1), installed...
