Yeah at the end of the day you just have to turn down as many settings as you can and hope for the best. The game will use as much as you let it for the settings applied. This is currently an intensive game for a laptop for that reason.

I have experienced some slowdowns for seemingly no reason in various scenarios. Sometimes even letting the game run in one place without input will let the frames drop over time. I'm not entirely sure of what causes it either.

That's what I was hoping for! And that's an impressive software resume for what sounds like a rather blue collar background. Computers are truly for everyone. Looking forward to any mods!

Under View > Debug you'll find "Set Orbit Debug" which lets you do exactly this!
