I just semi-reproduced this by accident. Not the update pop-up but the controls pop-up when the game first loads in. So it's still possible to lock your mouse on load.

I can't reproduce this on Windows with a R7 9850X / RTX 3080. So is it an AMD issue or a Linux issue :unsure:

I can't recall any exact statements right now but I'm pretty sure that more dynamic visuals (like the expected effect you describe) are part of the plan. For the time being they're just implementing the basics and will return to them for polish in the future. Things are still pretty early along...
