Solved Quickly duplicating parts in Editor crashes computer

This question has been answered or resolved.

Game Version

[v2026.8.22.5348]

Operating System

[Windows 10]
Intel i7 3770 3.50Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
VRAM: 8 GB
HDD TOSHIBA
RAM 32.0 GB DDR3

What Happened
I picked a pod capsule as first part for my new vehicle. I then placed the Launch Escape System part on top of it. I then placed a fuel tank (biggest volume and smallest length one) under the capsule. I then placed smaller-volume tanks around said fuel tank, with x4 symmetry (or maybe x5). I then pressed Ctrl + D to duplicate the part, several times, quickly (about 175 beats per minute), with the part popping in front of the camera. So the duplicated part would automatically stick to the last part behind it, and pressing Ctrl + D to duplicate again would repeat the same sequence. About the 4th (or 5th), my screen went black, my computer went quiet. Then, it turned on again, on its own, no warning whatsoever.
I believe this is a bit dangerous for my machine. There should be some way to kill the game before it kills the computer, I believe.

What Was Expected

At this point I was just playing around with the duplicate feature, I wanted to see a big arm of fuel tanks created quickly around the craft, in the Editor. Slow duplication seemed to work fine, but speeding up the process seemed to be the problem.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Create new vehicle from brand new save
  2. Select the first capsule pod
  3. Add fuel tank under it (for a nice flat surface to stick more parts on it)
  4. Add a smaller fuel tank with the x4 (or more) symmetry ON.
  5. Press Ctrl + D to duplicate the part, several times, on the same newly-placed-part that you just placed. No need to click in order to place the part.

Reproduction Rate

[once. Did not dare killing my computer again]

Additional Info

It seemed to me like a big issue that needs some kind of firewall, or protection for the player's computer, if a player decides to quickly build an octopus looking craft, by pressing ctrl + D several times in quick succession.

I suspect from what you have described is you had a PSU overcurrent protection even, or VRM fault or a thermal shutdown occur on your machine. Your hardware fits this profile: a i7-3770 platform (2012 vintage - with DDR3) paired with an RTX 3060 Ti whose microsecond transient spikes run well above its approx. 200 W rating.
Nothing was damaged. OCP tripping is the protection working. And the "firewall to protect the player's computer" you are asking for isn't implementable in a user-mode process. KSA the game has no way to observe or moderate a power rail issue on your hardware.

I see. Thank you for the feedback, it seems to be a problem on my end. I'm curious, have you tried reproducing my situation ? I haven't heard from other players trying this.
