KSA Wiki Weekly Updates

Wiki Wednesday!

I'm starting to wonder how many "w"s have been sent in this thread so far, probably quite a few. Let's add some more! The wiki saw some maintenance since our last update proper, let's see what that includes...

New
Camera view - This one is important but tricky! I spent a good while trying out different orbits to get a hold of how the views are defined. Some of these may not be 100% accurate yet, but they're close enough to get started.

Updates
Main page - Just a little tweak to the layout, less negative space now!
Gauge - New section for context assignments and some overall improvements.
Vehicle editor - Up to date again.
Install guide - Some light cleanup with links and notes.

Looking ahead
Gauge - I want images of each gauge.
HUD - Still in the idea phase.
Ahwoo client - Now that an early version of this is available, it's on the radar to implement a writeup on for KSA install/updating when the time comes.
Monthly roundups - I am planning on starting monthly update videos to recap wiki progress as well as to give an exclusive look at some fun internal stats. More on this next week!

I'm actually liking how the gauge stuff is coming along. There's a lot to dig in to. We had a fun working on that on the wiki editing stream the other day as well! Big thanks to everyone that helped out.

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

Let's start today by wishing well to everyone on the RocketWerkz and Ahwoo teams at Gamescom! More people learning about the game means more visitors to the wiki, so I'm eager to show off what's been put together!

New
Russian translations - We've received a significant number of Russian translations this week! A huge thanks to STRATOFEL for the hard work. This has been the biggest translation boom since the wiki was started. Really cool to see.
Category:Images of gauges - Fresh subcategory for images.

Updates
Gauge - Each gauge now has an associated image, this makes the page seem much larger!
Resource - Added a column for common usages.
Terminology - Some new real-world terms.

Looking ahead
Gauge - More details per gauge, some individual functions could use description.
Parts - Yes you've heard it before but progress is happening behind the scenes.
Commands - Extra “you’ve heard it before” but they’re back on my radar for some polish.
Translations - Likely more RU to come and hopefully seeing other languages at some point too!

In addition to these weekly posts, you can soon look forward to KSA Wiki Monthly Roundup videos! The first should be uploaded by the end of the week. Basically a retelling of these posts plus a little extra. Thank you all for your continued support, I'll see you in September.

Happy editing!

Wiki Roundup!

Wait a second, it's not Wednesday! Nor is this a weekly update post!
It's a post letting you know about a new video thing I put together: a KSA Wiki Monthly Roundup!
Take a look at what August brought to the wiki. If you prefer videos to forum posts, this may be more up your alley.

Can you find all the bonus gags I included?

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

September is upon us and you know what that means... The same thing every month means: more wiki editing. But not all edits are the same, are they? Much like the months themselves. Anyways, your updates:

New
Solar System - A compromise on "no real planet pages". This page has begun to detail relevant info on the existing Solar System from a gameplay perspective.
Launch pad - Our first proper ground structure gets its own page.

Updates
Russian translations - Even more translated content has been added. STRATOFEL is a machine!
Command/refill- Further clarifications made.
Terminology - More terms!
Linux install guide - Up to date again thanks to @Jabbawaky.

Looking ahead
Parts - More work on summary tables and starting some pages on more part categories like parachutes, RCS, et cetera.
Cleanup - I'd like to take a pass at any stubs and older articles to bring things up to par as best I can. I don't want to leave too many pages in the dust as more new stuff gets added.

I hope you got to check out the August roundup video! It was fun to put together and the feedback has been positive. Hopefully we see another at the end of this month.

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

Hello there reader, welcome aboard the wiki train, now taking off from Wednesday Station. Your refreshments en route will consist of the usual spread of new, updates, and anticipated content. Please have your tickets ready for the attendant!

New
Redirects - A handful of common search terms have been redirected to the relevant pages.
Mod - General info on mod stuff like where to find them and how to install them.
Parachute - Oh shoot, chutes!
Reaction control system - Talk about an attitude adjustment.

Updates
Launch pad - Added some coordinate data.
Planned features - Did some cleanup on implemented features.
Commands - Another one added and one updated.
Linux install guide - Up to date again thanks to @Winter.

Looking ahead
Expanding pages - SRBs, chutes, RCS, etc. have room to grow. As mentioned before, I'd like to see valuable pages get some meat on their bones.
Images - I'd like to take a look at existing images and where new ones can be implemented.

What kind of train would the wiki train even be anyways? Steam locomotive, big ol' diesel, Japanese maglev? Don't overthink the metaphor, just think about what you'll get to hear about next Wednesday.

Wiki Wednesday!

Whoa, a buzzer beater entry for Wiki Wednesday! It is still barely Wednesday on the East Coast so let's get to it. I've been busy out on a business trip but that doesn't stop the wiki from growing...

New
Category:Vehicle control - A subcat for gameplay mechanics specifically related to, you used it, controlling vehicles.
Docking - A major concept now getting some work put into it. Applying what gravhoek has taught me in writing. Comes with a picture!

Updates
Launch pad - Added some coordinate data.
Maneuver - Updated categories.
Reaction control system - Mentioning autopilot.
FAQs - Some cleanup and mention of system requirements.
RocketWerkz - Pretty big cleanup, including actually mentioning they make KSA on this page.
Solar System - Added more celestial bodies.

Looking ahead
Expanding pages - Add docking to the same list from last week for this.
Commands - Two new ones got added in the latest build, they need pages.

It might be the latest WW post to date but I still made the deadline. It's been a whirlwind experience up here in Wisconsin but I'll be back home in time for next Wednesday. Milwaukee is pretty German, but wikis are worldwide.

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

I AM STILL IN MILWAUKEE. But I still edit the wiki! As best I can, at least. I've also been helping out with the new definitive KSA content manager, Borea!

New
MIT license - To accommodate the Borea logo.

Updates
Solar System - Added remaining celestial bodies. This is now the go-to for info on the bodies already in the game.
Celestial body - Cleared out the list of CBs now in Solar System.
Mod - Added info on Borea!
Online tools - Also Borea-ified.
Game folders and files - Adding some items to the config files section.
Troubleshooting - Updated to reflect the current state of things a bit better.

Looking ahead
Commands - Still need to add those new sky commands.
Anything really - Gets tough to work on stuff when I haven't had access to the game in almost two weeks.

I will be flying back home on Friday. It's been fun but I am no Northerner and this Florida Man needs to bask in the humidity once again. Wiki editing back in EST soon. And if I hadn't already mentioned it, go check out Borea.

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

Man, it's good to be home. I've been busy catching up on some things to not to much wiki this week. But still a little bit of wiki! Updates and such here and there. Plus, another roundup!

New
The September Roundup! Take a look:
Updates
Linux troubleshooting guide - Some updates thanks to @Winter.
Docking - Some notes on docking speed.
Parachute - Minors updates.
RCS - Also some tweaks.
Command/screenshot - Helps knowing what folder the screenshot goes to!

Looking ahead
Commands - I swear I'll get to these. For real. I mean it. Eventually.
Interstellar - It's gonna be insane and I need to document.

I hope everyone is enjoyed the new roundup. The feedback does seem positive! I know wiki things have been a tad slower lately, I've been juggling all sorts of things. Maybe I need to go back to Wiki Edit & Chill streaming for a bit. We shall see.

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

Hello and welcome to October! Your first spooooky wiki update is here. What makes it spooky? How little I managed to get done! I was out travelling again, but this time on my own terms at least.

New
sky - Little page for new command.
skygrid - Another command page, with a picture!
explode - Manual detonation on command!
Interstellar travel - Introducing the concept and mechanics.

Updates
Time warp - Thanks to interstellar mechanics, we can go ludicrous speed now.
Command - New commands listed.

Looking ahead
Images - Thinking about adding more pictures again.
Commands - Maybe coming back to that idea of expanded command output examples. Trying it out on sky.
Interstellar - Could do with some more meat, of course.

My overall schedule should be back to normal for a while. Looking forward to wiki work. Lots to do, as true as ever. Maybe some proper fall weather as well. Stay spooky my friends. 🎃

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday!

I made sure to dedicate some proper wiki-ing time this week. Aside from the notes below we're also (nearly) finally back up to date on version history! Now we just have to work on the rest of the entire wiki...

New
Ground clutter - Rocks and trees! Pictures of rocks and trees!
uimask - Found another command, this is an odd one.

Updates
Gauge - Lots of new stuff, info on many buttons.
Linux install guide - Organizational efforts and a notice on Wayland per Dean's recent posts.
Linux troubleshooting - Also now mentions KSA not supporting Wayland.

Looking ahead
Install guide - If the Ahwoo client does indeed drop next week then this will be addressed majorly.
Images - I have the urge to add more scattered around.

A note for you all, my loyal readers, I will be on a bit of vacation near the end of the month. I expect to need an Article Showcase to publish soon so I will be working towards that. Cooler weather is rolling in so it's time to cozy up indoors and edit away.

Happy editing!

Wiki Wednesday! Friday?

Thanks to the global internet PHP super disaster and additional issues from the Ahwoo hosting provider, the forums were totally down for a few days and we did not get to experience our Wiki Wednesday as intended. So please look forward to a proper post next week and the October roundup video around the same time.

Don't worry, due to the extraordinary technicalities, this does not count against our streak! In fact we are now past 6 months of consistent wiki updates on this thread and closing in on two years of wiki work total.

Happy editing!
