Hi everyone! I was wondering who Ahwoo are, some kind of forum host? I haven't heard of them before and couldn't find any google results. Thanks!

Hey! Welcome to the forums.

Right now, Ahwoo is RocketWerkz' partner for distributing KSA and receiving contributions toward the project.

You'll see more info on the Ahwoo website soon.

Ahwoo is a separate company from RocketWerkz.

Oh thanks for clarifying, I must’ve misunderstood a message at some point.

Does this mean the forum leaked? The soft launch of a link in a post on the subreddit seemed like we snuck in here before a big planned opening day. Or was a launch with less fanfare the way you guys wanted it to go?

[TheDirepack]

They posted it on the Discord. That's how I found it.

Makes sense. I try to check the discord semi frequently but it’s just so easy for info to slip through on it.

Also makes sense to slowly build up a community with a soft(er) launch.

Exactly, we're trying to avoid a situation where we get a stampede of low effort content. We're glad you're all here!

Great to know, thanks everyone!

Can you share more detail? The lack of transparency is weirding me out.

Sure - Ahwoo was created to serve as a novel means of game distribution.

We're addressing several frustrations related to existing platforms that are felt by players and developers. These frustrations, like a lack of control over revenue models, poor community / social integrations, and opaque systems fundamentally constrain how games are made and enjoyed.

To relate back to my previous post; "games can inspire, and inspiration should be free" - that's a huge goal for Kitten Space Agency - and reaching that goal simply wouldn't be possible on traditional platforms.

There's some more info in Dean's FAQ post on the KSA Discord regarding their decisions for how Kitten Space Agency will be distributed.

[VITAS]

I assume all these efforts (KSA development, This site,...) are not only funded by the crowd funding campaing on this site.
And i DO hope youre getting paied royaly.

[Rocket]

Currently I fund Ahwoo with my own money. The intention is to experiment with new ways to make games and support developers. This decision was born out of my frustrations at what we had to do to make enough to survive (ICARUS) and the lack of options to make games like KSA.

[VITAS]

You have my fullest respect for taking this amount of risk to give us hope and fullfill your vision.

I hope it pays out.

Do you mind me asking whats the rough time span until you have to charge for the game
and what the estimated price has to be to continue devolopment?
