This is a bit of a stupid poll, both because interstellar travel & colonies are (were) planned features for KSP 2, not KSA... and you can't really do interstellar without colonies to begin with. But I'm asking, which of those two dream features intrigues you the most? If Kitten Space Agency were able to go in-depth with only one of them, what would you like to see and how would you like to see it be done?

Personally, colony simulation is my dream feature. It isn't even close.

Colony Simulation is one of the most exciting features in my opinion too, but i am curious about the devs plans based on Deans comments.

As far as i know they are definitely planned but i am curious about the scope.

In terms of interstellar travel i know that the code is already really close to making that possible and i am really looking forward to that too, but i am almost a bit more excited about the (scale of) spacecraft we will have to design in build for that mission than the star systems themselves for now.

Oh, I had no idea Dean had said anything about colonies, what a treat! Definitely not promising the biggest best colony feature ever, but that still leaves room for my vision of colonies. Just the idea of building one up from nothing, designing them for their specific purpose, launching supply deliveries and balancing resources is such a meaningfully game-changing feature. Career mode always felt like it needed an extra "oomph" in the strategy department, and colony building fits perfectly without making the early game too 'hardcore' for newcomers.

Of course none of what I just said needs hundreds of kitten colonists or giant town-sized outposts to work, honestly I've always thought of "big" colonies having like 10-20 permanent residents on them. They're difficult to maintain, after all. Anyways, I'd be more than happy as long as the colony gameplay involves some level of resource management baked into the design, because that instantly adds an extra dimension into the "simulation" part of the space sim game. Actually, any structure building on other planetary bodies already exceeds my expectations lol but I'm hopeful for Kitten Space Rimworld

I definitely agree, I'd take colony stuff over interstellar if I had to choose. Maybe that's the spreadsheet gamer in me. I think the itch I'm really wanting to scratch is scale. Large structures, centrifuges, staryards, that kind of thing. There's always mods, of course, but official polish and support is always nice.

Great minds think alike! 🤝

Kitten Space Rimworld
Have mercy that's a concept ripe with implications. 🫣

Also, FYI, for other blurbs on what we know is planned for the game and in what capacities you can check out this page on the wiki. We try to keep it up to date and cited as much as possible.
