What was the first Computer you used?

I didn't get my first personal computer (486-DX2-50, overclocked to 66) until I was in my early 20s, (around '94), I already had my engineering degree by then.
Heh.. To this day, I still think those old 486s were the best built PCs ever!
I used to work in the comic industry, coloring comic pages digitally. We used an obscure (now dead) vector-graph program on early X86 hardware and DOS. We used everything from 286 on through to 486, as they each became available. When the 486s came in they felt like an exceptional upgrade and frankly, after all these years, there have been very few times I felt that much of a "level-up" since.

Commodore Vic 20 but I remember my friends and I would go to radio shack and the manager would let us play a couple games on the Tandy machines they had set up for demo /display, if anybody came in he would shoo us off and we understood so as to leave quietly so he could help any real customers.

probibly an apple II.

i also at one point owned a ti99 and used a vax mainframe (both in the '90s unfortunately, long after their useful lives).

My friend's TRS-80 Model 1. Second one was an Atari 800 I bought with my paper route money. My mother did not approve.

Texas Instruments Desktop. Had 1 GB hard drive and used cartridges.
Bought by my Dad. Had a Pac Man style game where you would leave chain behind rather than eat dots.

A lot of the computers in this thread look very old but assuming that posts from people born after 2000 are allowed then the first computer I used was an iMac 2012 which was really just what my parents had at the time. we replaced it in 2019 with an hp whose model name escapes me and later a diy me and my dad did for KSP2 (which turned out real well (I'm dunking on KSP2, not the computer though that had its own problems)). Most recently the first computer that is specifically mine is a Lenovo Legion 7i running linux mint that I got for my birthday. And to answer the last question in the original post my family is just fine with me being a nerd. Pretty much all of us are in one thing or another. o7

Respect for joining Linux camp with your first computer.

Thanks! I do definitely like it a lot better than my windows plan which was getting... interesting... before I just dropped it in favor of linux.

easy to join linux now when windows sucks and everything works on linux just fine.

try doing it when ms still put out great oses like win2k, xp, and 7.

for the record my first os was dos.
