    Running it on a Mac

Quick update: I managed to run the last version (without terrain tessellation) using Sikarugir with modified MoltenVK. Runs “nice” in a Macbook Pro M5 16MB More here: https://forums.ahwoo.com/threads/macos-discussion.84/

    null rotation compared to KSP

I believed that I wanted everything to be procedural until I played Juno. What a nightmare... The LEGO approach, in general, is so much more fun for me.

    null rotation compared to KSP

Juno (another rocket sim) work like this, you describe where you want to go, and the “SAS” move to the desired orientation. And I believe there was a Mod from KSP that called Flight by wire that did it, but I never tried.

Temporary UI suggestion: Smart Flight Computer edition

I was checking the mockup again and realized that the lack of alignment in the units was introducing some visual noise. I made a new version... Now it is easier to quickly visually parse the info! The atmospheric density (kg/m³) and location (latlong DMS) fields are a bit tricky to fit in...

Hi, I’m the lead developer of the Brutal Framework

It answered a lot, now it makes more sense! I googled some of the names you wrote, and from the Stride Engine site, I found the Silk.net project that seems to share a similar philosophy, at least from the surface. Quite interesting to read about! Not sure if now is the right time, but you...

Hi, I’m the lead developer of the Brutal Framework

Hello there! I hear a lot about the Brutal, but I never really get what it is. Is there any similar existing project that compares to it? Do you see it evolving and being used in others studios? And fingers crossed that Mac will be somehow supported in the future :)

    MacOS Discussion

Whisky "works" for me if I disable AA, terrain, and ocean. Some experiments here: https://forums.ahwoo.com/threads/running-it-on-a-mac.217/

Temporary UI suggestion: Smart Flight Computer edition

Hey, thanks for actually paying attention to the details! The idea is that the orange is an accent color to indicate “active”, and in the Flight Computer it tells what mode was selected (based on the conditions). The dropdown is to be able to override the mode and maybe support custom ones. But...

Temporary UI suggestion: Smart Flight Computer edition

Hello there! I’ve worked in UX design for more than a decade, and unfortunately I can’t turn off my design brain, so I decided to do some unsolicited design work. Jokes aside, I think the game is visually stunning, but the current UI feels like a mix of excessive skeuomorphism and debug tools...

Nice! Are you able to render terrain and ocean with CrossOver?

    Running it on a Mac

Today I did a bunch of experiments, playing around with what Wine, GPTK, Vulkan, and MoltenVK... I'm not a developer/graphics dev and never played with Wine before, so everything is a bit uncharted for me. The best tool that I found to debug many environments and settings was Sikarugir (...

    Running it on a Mac

Not sure what would be the best, as I believe that Whisky and CrossOver are better for the ones with Apple Silicon. If I still had my Intel, I would just run it via a Windows bootcamp.

    Running it on a Mac

Have you been able to see any terrain surface? What are your specs? I’m on a Macbook pro M3, running relatively stable in Whisky, but only with Terrain Tesselation and Ocean turned off. The terrains lacks details and have a solid color, quite weird.

    Running it on a Mac

I'm happy to hear! On my side, I'm still trying to get a stable experience. I'm running it on a Macbook Pro M3 16GB RAM. Tried Whisky in Win11, managed to boot it super quickly and see how it works, so I'm already happy to be able to see the game running. FPS were around 24-30, but after I got...

    Running it on a Mac

Has anyone already succeeded in hacking it to run on macOS with Apple Silicon? Is it worth trying it in emulators/VMs?
