Hi,
i regularly attend Hacker and Tech events and usualy bring a couple of KSP Setups along for people to play.

The next big event is at the end of decemeber where i bring arround 8-16 setups.
Would you guys think offering at least 1 Computer running KSA to showcase it wouls be a good idea or is it to early and would alienate potential fans?

Also: is it possible to add votes to threads?

I don't think it's so much about alienating people as understanding what your audience is, what your objective is and whether KSA satisfies both. KSA is an amazing framework to tinker with IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT. For people who have never seen a KSP-type game and don't understand transfers, intercepts, etc, there's not much to do yet.

KSP's easy-to-jump-into build/fly/retry loop is going to be more satisfying and enjoyable for new players compared to the mid-Nov KSA build. Then again, KSA may have a VAB and rocket building by the time you do your setup and provide a better experience. You just have to be honest with yourself about why you're setting up a dozen stations and who's going to be using them for what, and hold that up against the state of KSA's latest build before you head out.

sounds to me like 1 station would be a good idea to show what is in the works and because its an event full of tech minded people.
i could also add a sign that explains its an tech demo/alpha and some info.

its all in the spirit of the call for us to go out and show the game off and the worlds second largest hacker meetup is surely the epicenter of ksa compatible people.

for thoese intrerested: https://events.ccc.de/congress/2025/infos/index.html (sold out) The assembly is called "Arcade Operation Center"

My $0.02, right now KSA is just perfect for us nerds - we sort of know what we're doing and what to expect, we like playing with the orbits, etc. But visually - apart from planetary eye candy and close ups of ships in orbit - there's not much else to see or do. Myself I would wait until the project is "gameified" a little more, where a user could, for example, load a basic rocket on the pad with a couple button presses and launch it, or have a module re-enter (with all the ionization/atmospheric drag modelling). People don't want a space simulator - people want a space GAME. That is something with different goals and objectives. No one ever got a thrill from missing a precise orbit and having to burn an extra 2 minutes to correct it (except us nerds). But crashing on re-entry and have all your kittens die, or blasting off - that can be thrilling. Games are about meaningful experiences and decisions.

You should realy check out that link i posted. they get joy from sorting ball pits.
You are however right. it should be more of a demo like a concept car. we need a demo loop.

First impressions count for a lot, so it would probably be best to wait until the devs themselves think that the game is ready to show off to the broader public.

If you do want to show off something new, KSP with blackrack's v5 cloud mod, Deferred, Scatterer, Restock, and the rest of the visual mods here would be more impressive as a complete game to the average non-KSP-player audience.

Only if it is enabled for the particular forum subsection you are in. Yes for feedback and suggestions, no for general.
