I noticed that switching to map view immediately shuts down the thrust of the currently controlled vehicle. I partially suspect that this is a bug but I am labelling this as a question because its consistency and the fact it visually updates the engine control menu makes it look like it is a design choice. If anyone knows, please tell me

not a bug as such. It is because in map view by default you are not controlling your vessel. If you hit Tab in map view it will control your vessel

May I chime in to suggest to invert the default behavior? When doing manual maneuvers, for whatever reason, having camera controls on by default instead of rocket could lead to potentially undesirable situations. Don't know about others, but for me personally dragging the camera around with WASD is a secondary thing.

I was about to post as well that this was a bug. If it's not a bug its counterintuitive to all of space sim have played such as KSP and JUNO. I typically switch to map view during a burn if I raise or lowering orbit and want to watch the trajectory lines.

Hi just also encountered this behavior in the game and found this thread. I really think toggle map view should not also toggle engine state, I find this very unintuitive and it makes the map mode/view significantly less useful to the player. It also interrupts the UI flow that I am used to from KSP where I switch between the craft and map view to monitor the trajectory during a burn.

I second that. Looking at the orbit lines changing while burning is a must. Little fact, if we zoom out while in "control view", we eventually get to see the orbit lines, and we keep control. But zooming out all the way to this point is not efficient at all.
