Loading stuck on Planet Renderer

No matter how low I set the settings before launch, the loading will always get stuck at planet renderer, even with earth only.
I tested this on version v2026.2.18.3622. In the previous versions, loading did get past planet renderer, but only if I choose earth only.

My specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600

RAM: 16GB DDR4 3800 MHz

GPU: RX 6700 XT

OS: Windows 11

I have same issue. I have Windows 10, AMD Radeon RX 6700XT, 32GB RAM, Windows 10.

I manage to load into a game with Earth only. If I try Earth and Moon or Solar system I can see in Task manager that it quickly allocate 25GB of RAM and then just sit there.

Yup, facing the same issue here. No matter what settings I put the loader at, the game just will not get past the "Planet Renderer" stage of the loading screen.

OS: Windows 10
CPU: 5700X3D
RAM: 32GB 3200MHz
Graphics Card: Gigabyte 6750xt
SSD: Western Digital 1TB NVME
I believe that I am on the latest version as of posting this. (v2026.2.38.3713 in the log file)

After some research, it seems like Radeon cards just don't work that well with KSA, and I know that it wasn't much better when I tried it at launch a few months ago. It's unfortunate, but hopefully my provided data can be helpful to the devs, or anyone reading in general, even just a little bit.

I let the game sit for a good 10 minutes (I timed it), and it made absolutely no progress. The whole time, the CPU stood at ~10% usage, while the GPU at 0%, VRAM and RAM usage was pretty high overall, here's a snip that shows some of the story:

Between all of my log files, they all shared the trait of terminating just after "17:51:57.639 INFO set camera mode to 'Orbit'"

Here is a full past of the most recent log, although I'm not sure it'll help that much. I'll also add my settings.toml as an attachment (in .txt form because I can't upload .toml), because why not.

Same Here, When i load Earth only, it starts normaly. But every other version it stalls out like in your window.

AMD 6700xt
Windows 11

I have the exact same problem with my RX 6650 XT, 16 GB DDR4 and Ryzen 7 on windows 11 25H2

The same, RX6950XT . Since the very beginning, I am not even able to start this game.

Same issue, Windows 10, RX 6900XT, Ryzen 7 7800X3D. It seems everyone in the thread has a Radeon 6000-series card. Though those who report a CPU all have a Ryzen of some generation or other so it's not impossible that could be a factor, but the GPU seems the more likely culprit.

the GPU seems the more likely culprit.

It most likely is the GPU. They've been tricky since the start, see this post. There's been other blurbs from devs about the AMD 5000/6000 cards having issues. It seems like if you wait long enough and the game doesn't crash then it may still work. If it does crash and it isn't VRAM related, then you're probably looking at some other issue the card bears. Maybe it'll get fixed in time, either by some change from RW or driver update from AMD.

I'd highly encourage folks to send an "Issue Report" to AMD describing the issue.

You can open "AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition" that should come with your AMD drivers. In the top right there is a cog wheel icon for settings. In the settings page there is a "Issue Reporting" button that will launch the AMD "Bug Report Tool".

You'll have to give basic reproduction steps. For example:
"I download the game 'Kitten Space Agency' and then run it. The game seems to load forever while compiling shaders for the 'Planet Renderer'. One of the shaders that seems to be causing problems can be found in the install directory at './Content/Core/Shaders/Planet/TerrainMesh/GenerateMeshHeight.comp'."

It seems this is specifically a Windows AMD proprietary drivers problem. From reports from folks on Linux with 5000/6000 series AMD cards their time loading "Planet Renderer" is a much more reasonable 10-20 seconds. Other AMD series GPUs and other GPU manufacturers do not have this problem. While we have a contact with Nvidia to solve similar problems we have no ability to communicate with AMD to help solve these problems.

That's great, thanks. Unfortunately, though, it probably won't accomplish much, since those 5 or 6 letters won't make a dent in the AMD mountain. If the cow won't go to the mountain, that doesn't mean you can make the mountain come to the cow (a German proverb, or something like that). But of course, we can always try.

Ground Clutter setting seems to be the issue here.
Go to C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Kitten Space Agency\settings.toml and change:
groundClutter = true
to
groundClutter = false

Solved for me. Issue happened even for Earth Only system.
