Why? Just make one proper account and use it to download new versions

The login requirement is not arbitrary, it is purposeful for access control and security (per Dean). Even with the upcoming download/update client an account will still be required.

If you are really that opposed to the idea, you can download archived versions here (and while there's no reason to believe Dennis' archive is malicious, it is still not official and is to be used at your own risk).
