Troubleshooting KSA (Pre-Alpha) on Linux under Wine

Weird. I don't see any terrain. (RX7600, 16GB VRAM), no matter what I do, no matter what Wine or Proton version I use. I could land the ship on water, though. Manjaro, Wayland, Plasma. There seems to be something weird happening with visibility in the game, though: Moving the Flightplan too far...

Water World (No Terrain on Earth)

It seems to be the current state under Linux. If you zoom out, you will eventually see a texture applied to earth. (But that is not really generated terrain.)

Troubleshooting KSA (Pre-Alpha) on Linux under Wine

I used PlayOnLinux to create a new prefix, then installed the VSDK, then KSA. Launching KSA.exe opens a download page in my browser to download .Net 9. Which I had to run in the prefix manually. After that, KSA runs, with a very smooth framerate. (Radeon RX 7600, Manjaro Linux)

How to make resource extraction much more interesting

    > Mining and conversion is boring. True. From a gameplay point of view it also does not make sense for very large stations to actually mine and convert. As long as a certain size of station is reached (power output, mineral extraction capacity), you should not simulate the whole process...

    Hi peeps

Well, there is a reason: For refueling! Since the mining runs even when the craft/station is unloaded, you could build a proper fat base on the Mun. My issue with that always is: From a gameplay point of view it does not make sense for very large stations to actually mine and convert. As long...

    Hello, everyone!

The bouncing! That made everything so unnecessarily complicated! Load, reload, reload - phew. EVA from Eve ground station and have it fly off - reload. Damn, I hope they solve that. It really limited KSP.

    Hi peeps

Same for me. Advancing to having a space dock, or at least a hangar on the Mun at some point, would have been lovely. There were mods to do something similar to it, but somehow they didn't do it for me. Sure, getting heavy cruisers launched into orbit with the weirdest support stages also was...

    Career Chat!

Also not so young: My first computer was an Atari ST, later a 386 PC, built all my following PCs from discarded spare parts until I could afford to buy components myself. I fell in love with my Handspring Neo and Palm TX and really miss them. (They still work fine, but are really not of much use...

Suggestion for a background story/story mode setting

The Usual: It always feels a bit weird, (as it did in KSP) that a society can build Rockets on an otherwise empty planet. An explanation for that could be the usual setup: A crash of an interstellar exploration mission and now the group has to rework their tech up to finally being able to "GO...

    Linux Discussion

I guess I am Linux only for about 9 years. I even finally dumped the virtual windows machine (virtualbox). I hadn't touched it for 3 years, so I could finally get rid of it. I have been sticking to AMD for a while, now, Graphics and CPU, and actually haven't stumbled over games not running...

    So happy to be here!

I am an old-timer from the early, very early KSP days (known as seehpcod and docphees), was also duped with KSP 2, and I managed to completely miss the buzz about KSA until now. And I am massively happy about KSA! In KSP, I ran through all the phases: I built Rockets, Planes, Helicopters...
