Before You Post a Suggestion
Quality suggestions help developers understand what matters to the community and guide their priorities. Here's how to make your suggestion as useful as possible.Search First
Before posting, search the forum to see if your idea has already been suggested. If it has:- Add your thoughts to the existing thread rather than creating a duplicate
- Explain why you think it's important or add new perspectives
- If the original thread is old or locked, reference it in your new post
Consolidating discussion in one place helps developers see how many people care about an idea and understand the full range of perspectives.
One Suggestion Per Thread
Keep each thread focused on a single feature or improvement. This makes it easier to:- Have meaningful discussion about specific ideas
- Track community interest
- Get clear updates when something is implemented or ruled out
If you have multiple ideas, create separate threads. It's fine to link between related suggestions.
Be Specific About the Problem
Strong suggestions start with the problem you're trying to solve, not just the solution you envision.Good: "Managing multiple vessels during time warp is frustrating because I can't see when manoeuvre nodes are coming up for inactive craft. I often miss critical burns."
Less helpful: "Add a notification system."
When you explain the problem clearly, developers can evaluate different solutions and sometimes find better approaches than the original suggestion.
What Makes a Strong Suggestion
Include:
- The problem or gap - What's frustrating or missing?
- Why it matters - How does this affect things?
- Your proposed solution - What would you like to see?
- Examples or mockups (optional but helpful) - Visual aids or references to similar features in other games
Avoid:
- Vague requests like "make it better" or "improve performance"
- Demanding specific implementation timelines
- Comparing the game negatively to other games without explaining what specific feature you're referring to
Expectations
- Not every suggestion will be implemented
- Some ideas may be technically difficult or conflict with design goals
- Developers will try to explain their reasoning when they can
