I got Kerbal Space Program on Xbox a long time ago, and never really got into it until recently. Needless to say, I have been ADDICTED. I am currently in school for Electrical Engineering technology, and the game has not helped my procrastination habits at all lmao, even when I'm not playing it I am thinking about it (Like right now as I'm typing this, I have a transmission line calculation assignment sitting in front of me that is due by tomorrow morning and it is 9:39 PM). However with everything that unfortunately happened with the KSP IP and all the original Devs, I'm wondering if there will be a potential console port? I understand that the company Squad was in charge of console port of KSP, but should I get my hopes up? or should I plan on blowing thousands of dollars for a PC to play this game. Which will suck even more now due to the sudden increase in RAM prices lol.

Its possible.. but.. with how anti-Steam Rocketworkz is, I can’t see them willingly releasing an official port for Xbox or Playstation or any other big console company

But the game isn’t even in alpha yet, and honestly, I don’t think many of us here actually know how the monetization for KSA will hold up in a few years, such as whether or not they will stay loyal to being independent and free

Ironically enough, if no ports are released you could use a Steam Deck (iirc some people have already done it) or the upcoming Steam Machine to download and play KSA just the same as a pc would

Welcome abord.

I would always suggest to play KSP (and KSA) on PC. Youre missing out on a whole lot of mods that help you even more forget time because of space.

SpaceDock currently has over 3000 Mods for KSP.

Fun fact, Squad did not port KSP themselves! The port was managed by Fly Tiger Entertainment and later on Blitworks.

But regarding the topic at hand, as Kraken said, it is near certainly unlikely that KSA ever gets a console port. Between the rapid versioning practices and philosophies around game distribution and ownership, any form of console release would not really make sense. Plus, RW has no existing console games and the financial overhead of hiring/training/maintaining that extra development would be significant.

Sometimes, that's just how some games shake out.

(Also, good luck with your degree! EEs are basically wizards to me.)
