Hello @Morrow and the KSA team,

With the upcoming Public Release, the community has started organizing itself to localize KSA into various languages.
To help coordinate these efforts — including for other language communities — I have a few questions:

  • Have you planned or implemented a way to localize the game into languages other than English?
  • If yes, is there any documentation explaining the localization process?
  • Should we expect to use a specific tool or workflow for translation (e.g., a localization editor, external software, etc.)?
  • Do you intend to use a Git repository or similar version-control system to manage translation files and updates?
  • Would it be possible to obtain an initial file containing the English strings/variables so that we can begin preparing the French (and other) localization?
  • And more generally, do you have guidelines or preferences regarding how community-driven localization should be organized?

Thank you in advance for your work, and we look forward to your reply.

Good idea to create a question for all languages. For any devs that look at this, if you don't want to pay a professional company to translate game strings, CrowdIn or Weblate are probably your best options to involve the community. Weblate in particular is open source software with a lot of flexibility in how it is deployed, and it is used in Captain of Industry (another technical/STEM game) to translate game strings.
