The East engineers can now blow walls, not just cut wire. Wall them in, wall yourself in, or hold a podlock with soldiers outside and an engineer squad gets dropped to plant C4 on the outside face, and they will go for a suicide plant on the nearest wall if they are getting shot up. Natural rock can be blown with C4 too. Incursion sends a lot more soldiers (a squad every two people instead of five), East soldiers dig their own shrapnel out with a boot bayonet and pick up any AK of their kit when they get back up, every parachute uses BARON's chute art, and LV976's river has a proper shoreline. Also the "cannot rotate cades until you attempt to build" bug is fixed, pens and labellers work on your HUD slots, and there is a way to ban a griefer who already logged out.
East engineers
- East engineers are demo experts now, not just wire cutters. If you seal yourself into a room with built walls, or seal a squad of soldiers in, or stand behind a closed podlock with soldiers on the far side, the commander drops an engineer squad that walks to the outside face and plants C4. They never refuse a wall because the stand-off spot is awkward, they take the farthest safe tile they can find and go. Both sides sealed is still a dud, and a squad with nobody on its layer never gets probed.
- Engineer squads getting shot up on the walk to a stand-off 16 tiles away were dying for nothing, so a squad that has lost a man, is in contact, or has a wounded engineer plants on the nearest player-built wall within 8 tiles that has one of you on the far side. It is a suicide mission and they know it.
- Three built wall tiles are enough to draw an engineer job, it was eight. A wall costs you real resources, so three tiles already marks a spot worth a charge.
- Engineer squads scale with how many of you are alive: two to start, one more every five people, capped at five. Three flat squads was the bottleneck with 36 jobs open on LV759.
- A podlock with people beside it jumps the queue. A nearby engineer squad on a lesser wall job gets pulled off it, unless its planter is already walking in or a charge is about to blow.
- The East supply crate restocks C4, 6 charges a crate, 2 per man. A squad that goes dry calls a crate, rearms and goes back to work. A squad whose crate got shot or landed empty stands down instead of calling crate after crate, and a squad in contact waits for the calm before calling one.
- One wall job was drawing fifteen engineer squads in a row, each landing beside you, getting beaten the tick it formed and dropping the job for the next squad to pick up. A beaten squad never re-takes its job, the job cools after a second beating, the engineer drop lands at least 10 tiles from any of you, and the engineer squad's medic respawns like the line squads' do.
- Walls you build on a quiet layer with no soldiers on it used to get ignored forever, because every drop anchored on whoever the fight was near. A leaderless wall cluster now pulls the next line squad's landing to it, hidden from you as always.
- Engineers shout the charge as the planter turns to run and the breach once it blows, medics shout at the fire, and soldiers call out their shrapnel dig. 64 new voice clips.
Demolition rock
- Natural rock (the strata, lava and hybrisa rock families) can be blown with planted C4. One charge opens its tile and weakens the ring around it, so a second charge next door opens more. Rock takes damage silently, there is no crack graphic, it is just gone when it goes. Bullets, xenos and the East's own chewing don't touch it, only explosives, so the maps' AI routes are unchanged until somebody actually blows a hole.
East soldiers
- Every East soldier carries a PAVN bayonet in his boots and digs his own shrapnel out with it the way you do, which is now urgent for him, he stops for nothing short of being downed. Medics knife a patient's shrapnel out before they start on the kits. A soldier knocked out mid-dig goes down with the knife back in his boots, because the floor was filling with knives, and a medic puts loose kit back where it came from. A medic was also dropping its surgical line because the boot knife had fallen into its satchel and filled it.
- Healed East soldiers were staying unarmed. A revived soldier picks up any loose AK of his kit, not just his own, and walks back to his own rifle at any distance on his layer when there is nothing nearer. A loose AK beside him beats his own twenty tiles off.
- A medic set on fire mid-treatment used to burn on at its patient. It drops the patient, sprays itself, then the fires around it.
- A perma-dead or gibbed soldier loses everything not on the body itself, the magazines in pouches, the supplies in packs, the magazine inside the worn rifle. What he was holding or wearing still drops for loot.
- A rifleman no longer hops a tile toward a target on the layer below him.
- PAVN kit is cheap. Dropped PAVN garments are destroyed easily (cloth 5 HP, helmets and body armour 10 HP) and burn fast, worn pieces are untouched. Worn PAVN armour comes down to the USCM scale, 15 bullet, melee and blast on the helmet, vest, gloves and boots, the beret 15/5/5. The AK-47 had shipped with the M41A's exact accuracy, so wielded goes 1.3 to 0.85 and one-handed 0.65 to 0.5. A dropped Type 80 bayonet breaks and burns like the rest of the kit.
- The Type 6 grenade gets its own blast instead of the M40's. Three tiles straight where the M40 reaches five, less brute, a two-tile shrapnel sleeve.
- Loose limbs, heads and organs burn away like dropped clothing. A limb lying in an underbarrel flamer's fire used to survive it.
Incursion
- A commander squad every two people instead of five, which is 22 squads at 37 of you, after the live round where everyone found the East too easy. The commander's body budget goes to 1024 so 100 people get their 54 squads.
- If you wall yourself in so nothing can reach you, the director was re-flooding the whole map every 15 seconds looking for a way in and causing 50 ms ticks for everybody. It now works out your side is sealed, leaves you for 60 seconds or until you move 8 tiles, then checks again. Smashers still come through.
- Squads were being dropped on a roof with no way down to you and queuing up for the edge fall, 23 squads' worth in one round. A hidden drop origin now has to share your island, or have a ladder chain to it.
Parachutes
- Every chute uses BARON's canopy and straps art, straps drawn behind the crate or the body and the canopy on top. The chute lands beside the load with a bit of scatter and stays on the ground for a while before it is cleared, and fire and blasts take it out early. A tile fire next to it catches it.
Map
- Water turfs can draw their own shoreline from the coast art, with a sand band under the water's edge. LV976's river and coast are converted. Every other map's water stays hard-edged for now.
Items and HUD
- The pen and the labeller work on your HUD slots. Click a worn pouch with a pen to rename it (Alt still stashes), and an armed labeller on a hand or worn slot labels what is in it. The canister pouch can be renamed.
- The shrapnel crown shows over every body you have the health HUD on, not just your own.
- The paper doll's aim zone title sits above the doll instead of over the eyes.
Fixes
- "Cannot rotate cades until you attempt to build". If you clicked a recipe in a construction window dragged past the edge of the game, that window kept the keyboard and TAB never reached the game until you clicked the world. Keys pressed in a dragged-out window reach the game now.
- An announce with no time on it is the bold chat line alone, no popup.
