Game Version

2026.9.10.5438

Operating System

Debian 13 on X11 with nvidia gpu

What Happened

Selecting a celestial body via the universe tab and pressing M to enter the map view, and then pressing M again causes a crash. Similarly, this also occurs upon zooming in to the planet after selecting it and dragging the view.

What Was Expected

I was expecting the game to have selected the celestial body such that I could zoom closely to view it

Reproduction Steps

  1. press the universe button on the top left
  2. select a celestial body (I selected mars)
  3. press M to enter map view and then exit the map, or zoom in closely and drag the view

Reproduction Rate

always

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Sounds like this is could be related to this report from a few days ago. Another map related crash on Linux.

Yes, although I do not seem to have any issues panning in map mode, the bug only occurs when I select a planet.

It's possible this has already been fixed by some changes that were made since the build you are reporting this on. Can you please retry with the latest build. If it is still occurring please attach a log of the error occurring and what GPU and driver version you are using.

The crash doesn't occur in the most recent version, but I do get a crash upon zooming in and panning the camera after selecting mars and pressing m.

RTX 5060 with version 615.71.09. I get 5.9/7 GB in vram when playing with default graphics.

Edit: it doesn't happen with less vram demanding settings (i.e. earth and moon system)
