Crash on load: ErrorOutOfDeviceMemory on GTX 750 (4 GB), even on lowest settings

Version: v2026.10.19.5638
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 4 GB, driver 582.78 (Vulkan heap budget ~3.36 GB)
RAM: 24 GB, Windows 11

Game crashes every time while loading into Sol (right after "set camera mode to 'Orbit'").
- Default/high settings: VK_ERROR_OUT_OF_DEVICE_MEMORY in ProceduralModifiersRenderData.CreateCurveLut
- Lowered settings: "Vma Failed to create buffer" in PlanetRenderer.CreateMeshGenerationBuffers
- Lowest settings (512 texture caps, shadows/clouds/ocean/particles off): "Vma Failed to create image
'Trail Shadow Cascade Latest Moments' (512x512) : ErrorOutOfDeviceMemory"

Two issues:
1. When VRAM runs out the game crashes instead of falling back to system memory or degrading.
2. width/height in settings.toml (1280x720) are ignored - swapchain is always created at
1920x1080 in Fullscreen and at window size in Borderless, so lowering resolution can't save VRAM.

Crash logs attached.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

This is currently expected behavior. KSA will crash during load on purpose if the VRAM limit is exceeded. Once in-game it will attempt to swap out with other programs but this does cause a huge decrease in framerate.

The current general minimum VRAM to run the game is 6GB, with at least 8GB being more recommended.

This is all part of the pre-alpha process that RocketWerkz uses to streamline development. The plan is to eventually refine the game to be more accessible on a wider range of hardware but that is a ways down the road.

That being said (regarding your GPU), KSA is not aiming to support hardware that old. Your card no longer receives Game Ready driver updates and will soon no longer get driver updates at all. KSA frequently gives users issues when the latest drivers aren't installed.
