What did you do in Kitten Space Agency today?

Hey @moeggz! Welcome to the forums.

You'll probably get more traction (and dev attention) if you turn this into an actual discussion. Since the build isn't out yet, maybe ask what people are hoping to do first when they get access? Or what features they're most excited about?

Yes! For now (until the launch of the game) what will you do first in KSA? I’m going to design a poorly shaped spacecraft to test the joint system and see how it compares to other space flight game’s “wobble.”

One of the first things in KSA that stood out to me and felt super weird (in a great way) was having physics apply during really high timewarp.

I've had some super long burn times playing RSS/RP-1 in KSP, and it's so nice knowing that you'll be able to warp through those in KSA

I hope to mess around with interplanetary transfers. If we dont get vehicle editor il prob mess with making a cycler to moon or mars

I'm going to mess around with the multi-window functionality. I don't have three monitors (two UW) for nothing!

You know I've been super hyped for that feature but you remind me in my office remodel I haven't set up my second monitor. I'll need to get on that before the game comes because I agree that feature will dramatically change the way I play the game.

If I'm not gaming in a full scale media center environment, why bother having a graphics card the size of Nebraska?

Reminds me i need 2 more monitors for this lol

I would first do a mun mission, and see how is everything. Oh and also try the part system with different tanks, also see the new graphics as seen in the test builds in YouTube it will be amazing for cinematic screenshots. I hope the game will be great, judging by current developments I think so. Make us wait as much as the game needs.

What I intend to do first depends to a large degree on what parts and tools are available to players in the initial builds. Most likely I will experiment with orbital rendezvous operations and trajectories in general, both inside and outside Earth’s SOI. It will be fun figuring out how to eyeball lunar, Mars and Venus transfers. If we have docking ports, I will certainly do some docking missions just to knock the rust off my old KSP skills.

I looked up what my oldest KSP screenshot on Steam is.
It's from Oct 10, 2014. :)
Might be fun to start a new thread somewhere with our earliest-saved screenshot from KSP. I played across four computers (including a MacBook Pro!) going back to 2013 and usually launched the executable directly without loading Steam so I have very few screenies saved there, but I did post a few other places that I’ve dug up.

March 31, 2013 is the earliest I could find.

Man that would be fun, I think my first screenshots are only locally on a computer in a box somewhere in my basement, I remember my first “big” one where my Apollo style Duna mission had for the first time not exploded on impact.

We have Apollo and Gemini services modules as the very first vehicles to test in the game.

I bet the third one will be the LEM Apollo lunar module for testing impact physic with the ground (when planets will be made of solid matter)

If I had the game I would test every structures for see the result of landing.

agree with Amsel here. i'm really looking forward to testing the impact physics by sending a ship at 50% the speed of light against the bare ground of the Moon just to see the little horror expressions on the kittens' faces

I already mentioned the multi-window but still thinking about it I'd also like to mess around with the all the SOI hopping that'll be possible with the Jovian moons. Conics for days. It'll be fun to see just what kind of orbital spaghetti you can make with so many options orbiting around in one space.

I'm hoping there's systems for assembling bigger structures and ships in space through docking. I'd love to assemble some kind of monster ship with probes, rovers and landers in orbit and send it on an interstellar mission. Native KSP wasn't so great for that. The other thing that was always fun to fool around with was rocket powered rovers
