What you were trying to do - Look at proper cloud shadows
What happened instead - The cloud shadows were warped and flashing
What you expected to happen - Cloud shadows not flashing or distorting

Specs: GTX 1080 8GB VRAM,
Intel Core i7-8700K
16 GB DDR4 Ram
Windows 10 (End of life, I know)

I tried restarting the game and modifying settings and tweaking various values but was struggling to fix this. This happens on a brand new fresh install of the game. over various restarts.

Bumping this. I'm having the same visual bug. The cloud's shadows are flickering/flashing rapidly

Specs:
GTX 980Ti
AMD Ryzen 3600 6-Core
32 GB RAM
Windows 10 (Avoiding 11 for now)

I too tried changing settings in the debug menu. The ONLY setting that made it go away was the cloud Shadow height. Which I think was render distance. If I made it a very small number < ~800 all shadows went away and there was no flashing because there were no shadows.

Can confirm on my rig
It seems to be related to the cloud shadows, if the sun is behind the camera, i dont see the bug

1080 ti
ryzen 5600
32 gb ddr4
win 10

Everyone I've seen reporting this problem, myself included (i5-14600KF, GTX 1060 6GB), has a GTX 1000 series GPU or even older. That might be the culprit.

Having the same issue. Had to disable cloud shadows because it was too distracting.

GTX 1060 6GB
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @3.60GHz
16GB 2400 MHz
Windows 10

Config settings

Have the same issue, i5-14600KF + GTX 1060 6GB

Might have something to do with the old 1000 series, perhaps?
I have the same GPU. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X Eight-Core Processor 3.40 GHz. I am having this exact same bug as well so it is possible that older GPUs are affected by this bug.

Reproduction details:
- Start the game
- Set graphics settings to 1K for everything
- Select the whole solar system
- Look down at the Earth

1080ti, win 11, flickering, out of place shadows
Me too. My only solution has been to disable the cloud shadows.

GTX 1080Ti
AMD Ryzen 2600x
16gb RAM
Windows 10

Hoping the next build will fix it for us
