FYI the second step worked for me
the error in your Event Viewer points to Windows Defender blocking the game from creating its data folder.
It seems like there have been similar issues solved by other users bevore. Checkout the "Similar Threats" section in the forum / the bug report threads in the forum.

A few things to try:
1. As a quick test you can try manually creating the folder C:\Users\<YourUsername>\Documents\My Games\Kitten Space Agency\ and then launching the game again.
If that does not work:
In general like all stuff on the internet that is similar: DO THE FOLLOWING ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING OR SOMEONE YOU TRUST (Like maybe the devs) tells you do. DONT DO IT BECAUSE A STRANGER LIKE ME TOLD YOU TO DO IT.
1. Add a Windows Defender exclusion for the game folder
Go to Windows Security -> Virus & threat protection -> Manage settings -> Exclusions -> Add an exclusion -> Folder, then add D:<your install dir>\Kitten Space Agency\
