ChatGPT translation:

I've noticed that many of KSA's components and recent design updates are becoming increasingly similar to KSP. While I know that many members of the KSA development team are former KSP developers, the core vision of these two games is fundamentally different. KSA should establish its own unique identity rather than becoming a visually polished copy of KSP.

Here are a few ideas for future development:

  • Introduce gameplay based on general relativity, with galaxies inspired by nearby real-world galaxies (or original fictional ones in the future). This would allow players exploring the Solar System to use these mechanics for rapid interstellar travel.
  • Develop more crew habitation modules with highly detailed interiors, allowing players to freely move around inside their spacecraft and enjoy a wider variety of onboard interactions.
  • Expand the variety of scientific research parts by adding more functional and interactive modules.
  • Introduce more high-end, futuristic aerospace components.
  • Improve the skin customization system with more flexible paint and livery options.

There are many other promising ideas waiting to be explored! I truly believe KSA has the potential to stand out and become a classic in its own right, just like the original KSP 1.

But honestly a lot of overlap with KSP right now doesn't bug me much given how many ex-KSP devs are on the team, that's kind of expected early on. The real test is whether it finds its own identity over time.

The interior/livery/science part ideas are pretty interesting though, worth posting as their own suggestion if you haven't, separate from the "too KSP" framing.

They're certainly going to repeat a number of architectural mistakes, IMO.

Be ready for a future of "Did you try uninstalling and then re-installing mods one at a time?"

This is the kind of thing that happens early on in development, where its KISS it first, everyone nods their heads, then a year or two down the road "well, too late to change it now".

Regardless, I wish them the best of luck.

Yeah thats true, not necessarily what I hope for either, but currently I don't see any issues. Yes, gameplay wise there is still a lot of things missing but everything else is slowly coming together

No major issues now, obviously. Also not a great deal of long-term community dependency.

Things haven't really settled feature-wise, but Kerbal was basically what I'd call this project's "discovery" phase.

The rough requirements are already a playable game (KSP itself), with plenty of community griping about extensibility headaches - all of which are really just due to the way the Unity engine was designed. Developing in-house without any expectation of future outside contribution makes simple standards easy to follow.

Throw random people into the mix, and you basically end up making your own flavor of COM.
