Hi
I get that you like the "inspiration should be free" aspect of software, and good for you, but would you kindly just put he game on steam anyways?
It makes everything so much easier, safe-files are automatically stored in the cloud, Linux usually works really well without trying, auto updates and it simply is where most of us start their games.
Just sell the game there for 25 bucks and if you make some money, hire a bigger team to get things done faster.
You can still have the free version here as download.

Dean has gone on record dozens of times about this topic for a variety of reasons. Search from:rocket2guns steam on the Discord and you can spend a good while reading into every detail. Long story short: RocketWerkz would sooner go out of business than put KSA on Steam (as I understand it). It's just not gonna happen.

It makes everything so much easier
For the user, not so much for RocketWerkz. There's conversation around install base and such sure, but if Dean wants to make Ahwoo a thing then that's his decision at the end of the day. I won't knock trying to do something new on principle.

safe-files are automatically stored in the cloud
Cloud saves are definitely a plus to Steam but something that could eventually come to Ahwoo services too. That goes for a lot of Steam's features that users enjoy and I do agree Ahwoo will need a lot of those to begin to be comparable in terms of functionality. But we're so early to the whole thing that's a given. A year or two from now who knows what will be implemented.

Linux usually works really well without trying
KSA does have (experimental) Linux builds now. Generally they seem to work better than when people had to use Proton.

auto updates
This is a feature on the horizon from Ahwoo.

They are taking a very "quality over quantity" approach even with developers. Very specialized developers that know and learn their BRUTAL system and other technical solutions very closely. Throwing more staff at the project would very well make things take longer.

You can still have the free version here as download.
I think it would violate Steam's Terms of Service to keep KSA free on Ahwoo while selling it on Steam.

Don't get me wrong, I understand where you're coming from. I'm a Steam power-user and I have no plans on changing that, but this is just the reality at hand.

In any case, welcome to the forums! We hope you stick around and have fun. 👋

If we will get something like CKAN there is no need of Steam at all.. I never use Steam for years now for starting KSP. Perhaps there could be additionally an KSA update button inside, then it would be perfect.

Cloud saves would have been neat and I get what you're saying, though it can be implemented in a launcher, as well as easy updates, so you have to just point steam to a launcher and get everything working, including screenshots from Steam.
If it will be available on Steam everybody will just go there, which will make the whole thing meaningless. The game is still very early to judge on linux compatibility. I personally launched KSA on the first day of public alpha release using Steam proton layer and it worked flawlessly.
They already spent a small mill on development, I think the intent and conviction are very strong. I hope they stick to it.
