Pilot is a role you pick in the loadout screen now. Two people per round can take it, and it drops you straight into a UH1H hovering over your spawn point instead of handing you a parked one on the map. Fireman carry got the rest of its pieces: the body rides on your back in the middle of your sprite, it takes both hands, and you can throw whoever you're dragging or carrying a couple of tiles. The Huey crash fireball stopped tearing into hard-edged cards and costs about half the GPU time it did, the instrument panel fits a 1080p screen, flamer and extinguisher jets draw on the layer below you, and the casing crash that was killing shooters who boarded the Huey is fixed.
Pilot role
- Pilot is a loadout on every map and every mode, Veteran and Delicate traits, a Mar40 carbine with a flashlight and the pilot uniform, trained on the UH1H. LV759 spawns you at the barracks, LV976 and LV376 paradrop you in.
- Only two people can be Pilot at once. A loadout can carry a limit now, the card greys out and reads FULL with the count in the title, and people who have left but still hold a body count against it.
- Picking Pilot births a UH1H in the air over your spawn point and seats you in it, so you don't have to walk to a pad. If there's already a free seat on a parked UH1H of that type on the map you take that instead, pilot seat first. Both pilots share one hull. If the seat doesn't work out you land on the ordinary spawn tiles.
- The pilot card shows the UH1H behind you, doors open, roof on.
- The parked UH1H on LV976 is gone since the role brings its own.
- A UH1H placed in a map in the editor lands facing whichever way it was placed, and the editor and the main menu backdrop draw a parked hull instead of empty tiles.
Fireman carry
- Carried people sit in the middle of your sprite, riding your back, on every screen and mid-step, instead of hanging off to the side.
- Dragging someone? Left click them in your hand slot or in the world with your other hand empty and you load them up, same as the menu. Strong and Rescuer give you the carry. The menu's carry option works on anyone you could drag.
- A carry fills both hands like a wielded gun. Both hand slots show the body and clicking either drops it.
- You can throw someone you're dragging or carrying: throw mode with the pull hand active, up to 2 tiles, lying bodies only, with the arc drawn before you let go.
- The trait tooltip row reads FIREMAN CARRY, loads a lying person onto your back and moves at full pace.
Huey
- Pulling the throttle a hair under the lift edge was dropping you out of the sky in three seconds, four times faster than a dead engine. An under-powered rotor sinks at the sink rate now, and the STALL lamp stays lit for the whole sink.
- The instrument panel plus MASTER CAUTION is half a 1920 display wide instead of two thirds, so it fits at 1080p. GAUGE SCALE in settings still makes it bigger.
- Throttle is a quadrant lever in the engine row, collective style, min pointing right and max up, instead of the tape that was sitting on top of its own counter.
- CABIN and NAV light switches click like the battery switch, for you and everyone riding with you.
- A floor collapsing under a parked Huey now crashes it with the fireball and scar and leaves a wreck, instead of quietly deleting it. A wreck over a failed floor falls through to the deck below, or bridges the hole if there's nowhere to land.
- The crash fireball was tearing into hard-edged rotated cards sitting off centre. It renders like the look-dev again, and it draws about half as expensive through the smoke phase, which was eating a third of the GPU frame and dropping frames on weaker cards.
- M2 and MK19 door mounts show on the x-ray of a Huey flying above you. They were the one bit of the hull you couldn't see from below.
Fixes
- Firing on the map then jumping into the Huey before the shot's casing had drained was crashing the client. Three crashes on build 5403 shared this stack.
- Flamer streams and extinguisher sprays draw on the layer below you now, so a spray through an opening no longer douses a fire invisibly and a flame jet below you is visible.
