Character Manager v0.1.0
Supported KSA version: 2026.10.19.5638

A mod for managing character mods.
Let's you enable and disable character definitions from mods, even from Core.

It does nothing on its own. It manages the characters that other mods add, such as KSP Characters. If not character mod is present, it wont do anyything.

Download: SpaceDock or GitHub
License: MIT
Source code: GitHub
Dependencies: StarMap

What it does
Open it in game from View > Mods > Characters.

  • Roster Character Models: one checkbox per mod with characters, including the game's own kittens. New recruits are picked only from the mods you tick.
  • Names: if a character's mod comes with a name list, recruits with that character are named from it. With KSP Characters 0.3.0 or later, Kerbals get Kerbal names like "Bob Kerman".
  • Regenerate unused recruits: replaces the crew in your current game who have never flown, aren't seated and aren't on EVA, using your choices above.
Your choices are saved for the whole install and apply to crew recruited from then on. Crew members already spawned and from older saves will keep their appearance and name. The game's starting crew, Hunter, Banjo and Polaris, are left as they are.

Install
Use Borea or install it manually
  1. Install StarMap.
  2. Copy the CharacterManager folder into Documents/My Games/Kitten Space Agency/mods/.
  3. Add these lines to Documents/My Games/Kitten Space Agency/manifest.toml:
    Code
    [[mods]]
    id = "CharacterManager"
    enabled = true
  4. Start the game through StarMap.
For character mod authors
Your mod doesn't need to know about Character Manager: every character the game loads shows up. To give your characters display names and a name list, put a characters.toml next to your mod.toml. The game ignores it, so your mod still works without Character Manager. The format is in the README.
