Crash on Game Load (after startup menu)

I got this error after selecting Sol System and then continuing: The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x00007FFEB6A0CF19. I run an RTX 3070 (8GB VRAM, I assume that's enough) and a Ryzen 7 3800X, with 16GB of RAM.

After this first initial crash (which froze my system for a solid fifteen-twenty seconds), running it again will get me past the initial selection screen but will crash with no errors once loading seems to complete.

No log files were generated in the My Games location.

EDIT: Starting the game on the minimal settings (along with selecting Earth Only) got the game to run with no apparent problems. My PC should easily be able to handle the highest settings though. Anything higher seems to crash the game.

I Have a similar config RTX 3060 TI and a rizen 7 someting (cant remember), the game crash then quit while loading things but by fideling with the texture size (not nesserary the lowest setting but i started with that and gradually incresing the size) and restarting my pc it eventually started the game.

Putting this here as the crash also appeared to involve thumbnails. I had been playing with resolutions and set to 2K for textures and shadows - both vessels and terrain - selected (I think) Earth only when KSA crashed to desktop. I then reloaded with the same settings and the game ran fine. I haven't found any logs but this was in the event viewer:
