Hello, I would like to report a visual and UI issue that occurs when running Kitten Space Agency on a 32:9 monitor using the resolution 7680x2160. I am launching the game through Steam as a non-Steam game using Proton 10.0-3.

First of all, I want to clarify that I have no mods enabled. This is happening on a completely clean, unmodded installation of the game.

I also want to clarify that this issue is very likely not related to Linux or Proton. Everything suggests that the problem comes from the extreme 32:9 aspect ratio and resolution, so it is very likely to happen on Windows or other operating systems as well.

What I expected to happen
The game should work normally at 32:9 resolution:
  • Planet textures should render without flickering.
  • UI elements should scale correctly, stay in the correct positions, and have an appropriate size.
  • Buttons should be clickable and fully visible without needing to move them manually.

What actually happens
When running the game at 7680x2160 in fullscreen, borderless, or even windowed mode:
  • Planet textures flicker constantly.
  • The UI becomes oversized, misaligned, and incorrectly scaled.
  • Many buttons do not respond when clicked, as if the clickable area is shifted.
  • To view the full buttons inside menus, I must hold Shift and scroll to move the content inside the UI panel.
  • If I switch the game to a 16:9 resolution, everything works perfectly.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Add KSA to Steam as a non-Steam game.
  2. Launch it using Proton 10.0-3.
  3. Ensure that no mods are enabled (clean installation).
  4. Set monitor resolution to 7680x2160 (32:9).
  5. Run the game in fullscreen, borderless, or windowed mode.
  6. Observe the UI scaling problems, the flickering textures, and the need to use Shift + scroll to see full buttons.
  7. Switch to a 16:9 resolution and confirm the issue disappears.

I can confirm this behavior running on Windows using the default executable and a 7680x2160 (32:9) resolution.
So apparently the issue is the aspect ratio/resolution, not the operating system, I think. But either way, a fix is still needed.
