Here are my current thoughts on kitten space agency after briefly playing the public pre-alpha (which I was VERY excited about):
I think that some things it did quite well were graphics (so I think all the texture art and also the shader work blackrack is doing is absolutely heading in the right direction, as well as mostly liking the UI (although it could be lessened as it is a bit overpowering)) and I kind of like how you get more control on your orientation rather than kerbal space program's basic direction holds.
Some key bad things are lack of linux builds, performance issues, being unable to load the solar system, the graphics levels not seeming to change much at all, the very weird rcs controls which seem to be slightly unresponsive in manual mode, and also the painfully slow rotation which is so slow I actually have to timewarp just to rotate
In short I am very disappointed and unsatisfied but highly respect the work of rocketwerkz on this game and all the effort put into it is outstanding, its just lacking support and some other things that make me very sad to have been held back by but I am excited for the future of this game and I hope it doesn't turn out like ksp2!
- I am on linux (arch) and disappointed I have to run it under wine (or I suppose proton)
- I didn't enjoy it very much
- It looks GREAT
- It runs TERRIBLY
- I cant load in the full solar system for whatever reason but I can load earth and the moon, which runs at about 20-30fps and I have a feeling is eating up my RAM because whenever I try more than 2K textures or something it just won't let it load even just the earth in the same way it refuses to not crash when loading the entire solar system
